Dignity. Integrity. Responsible stewardship.
This policy applies to the website and activities administered by Better Together CDC. Hope Hub Inc. and The Church of Atlanta remain responsible for their independently operated services and records.
1. Our commitment and scope
Better Together Community Development Corporation ("Better Together CDC," "BTCDC," "we," "us," or "our") respects the dignity and privacy of the people, families, volunteers, donors, and partners who connect with our work. This Policy explains how BTCDC handles information through this website, communications, community and economic development activities, and services it independently administers. Additional notices may apply to a particular program or platform.
2. Our connected organizations
BTCDC is a legally distinct, faith-informed nonprofit aligned with The Church of Atlanta and collaborating with Hope Hub Inc. BTCDC focuses on long-term community and economic development, workforce pathways, housing stability, financial empowerment, and community wealth-building. Hope Hub focuses on direct services and crisis response; The Church of Atlanta provides worship, ministry, and faith community life. Each organization maintains its own governance, operations, financial records, and responsibility for information it collects or controls. Shared branding, referrals, or collaboration do not authorize unrestricted information sharing.
3. Information we collect
Depending on your interaction, BTCDC may receive your name, contact details, preferred communication method, inquiry, program interests, volunteer experience, partnership information, or other information you choose to provide. A specific program may request employment, housing, household, or financial circumstances and supporting documentation when reasonably necessary for that program. Donation and sponsorship records may include transaction references and acknowledgment details. Hosting and connected services may process IP addresses, device and browser information, access times, and pages requested to operate and protect the website. The information requested depends on the activity and tools actually in use.
4. How we use information
We use information to respond to inquiries; coordinate authorized referrals; plan and administer programs, educational activities, and partnerships; communicate about requested services; maintain appropriate participant, volunteer, donor, and organizational records; improve our work and website; protect safety and system integrity; and meet applicable accounting, grant, audit, and legal obligations. Public reports should use aggregated or de-identified information where reasonably appropriate. Providing information for one purpose does not automatically authorize unrelated fundraising, church recruitment, or promotional communications.
5. Sharing, referrals, and service providers
We do not sell or rent personal information. Limited information may be shared with authorized personnel, advisers, technology providers, or community partners when reasonably necessary to perform an authorized function, consistent with applicable law and any required consent. A requested referral or joint initiative may involve limited sharing with Hope Hub, The Church of Atlanta, or another partner; applicable notices or authorizations should explain the purpose. Your information does not automatically enter an affiliate's independent mailing list, donor database, church records, or program files. Service providers are not authorized by BTCDC to use information for their own unrelated marketing. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or valid legal process, or when legally permitted and reasonably necessary to address fraud, protect safety, or protect rights. The SMS restrictions below take precedence over these general sharing provisions.
6. Text messaging and mobile privacy
If you choose to communicate with BTCDC by text or affirmatively consent to text messages, communications must remain within the scope of that permission. Providing a phone number, making an inquiry, volunteering, or donating does not by itself enroll you in recurring promotional or fundraising texts. Separate affirmative consent is required for those message types. Consent is voluntary and is not a condition of receiving services or participating in programs. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for assistance, or contact Better@BetterTogetherCDC.org or 470.673.0335. Consent to BTCDC messages does not authorize messages from Hope Hub or The Church of Atlanta. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing, promotional, or lead-generation purposes. All other information-sharing categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. These SMS-specific restrictions take precedence over general information-sharing provisions. This Policy does not itself enroll anyone in a messaging program.
7. Program and sensitive information
Employment, housing, re-entry, household, and financial information can be sensitive. Access should be limited to authorized people who need it to administer a requested service, coordinate an authorized referral, or meet applicable obligations. Submitting information does not guarantee eligibility, employment, training, housing, funding, or another result. Please do not email or text Social Security numbers, bank or payment-card details, identity documents, or similarly sensitive records. Contact BTCDC first to discuss an appropriate process when documents are necessary.
8. Donations and financial records
When an authorized giving opportunity is available, contribution information may be used to process and acknowledge the gift, maintain financial records, and respond to donor questions. Independent payment processors apply their own privacy practices to information they process. Verify the recipient and campaign before contributing. A gift to Hope Hub or The Church of Atlanta is not automatically a gift to BTCDC. Donating does not enroll you in SMS messages or authorize independent fundraising by affiliates. Do not send payment-card or bank-account information through ordinary email or text.
9. Volunteers, partners, and email
Information provided about volunteering or partnerships may be used to discuss interests, coordinate participation and schedules, and administer related activities. Any additional screening should be explained before information is requested. Optional email updates may be stopped through an available unsubscribe instruction or by contacting Better@BetterTogetherCDC.org. Administrative or service-related messages necessary to complete an interaction you requested may continue.
10. Cookies and independent services
Website hosting systems and connected tools may use cookies or similar technologies for functionality, security, preferences, or usage information where enabled. The information processed depends on the tools actually used. You can manage cookies in your browser and through any controls available on the website; restrictions may affect some features. Links to social media, partner organizations, registration services, and giving platforms lead to independently operated services with their own policies. Review those policies before providing information. Visiting an affiliate's website does not transfer your BTCDC communication consent.
11. Security and retention
BTCDC is committed to reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information handled, including limiting access to authorized people with a legitimate need. No website, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Information should be kept only as long as reasonably necessary for its purpose, requested services, applicable legal obligations, financial or grant records, dispute resolution, and other legitimate requirements. Records no longer needed should be securely deleted, destroyed, or de-identified as appropriate. Limited consent and opt-out records may be retained to honor preferences and document permission.
12. Your choices and privacy requests
You may ask about information you provided, request correction, request deletion where appropriate, or change communication preferences by contacting Better@BetterTogetherCDC.org or 470.673.0335. We may need to verify identity before responding to a request concerning personal information. Do not attach sensitive identity documents to an initial inquiry. Legal, accounting, grant, program, or other legitimate requirements may limit a request; applicable limitations should be explained in the response. Contact the organization that originally collected information if your request concerns an independently operated Hope Hub or church service.
13. Children, photographs, and personal stories
When a program needs information about a child, BTCDC seeks to obtain it through a parent or authorized guardian, or another appropriate process consistent with law and program requirements. Our general website is not intended to solicit information directly from young children without appropriate adult involvement. Identifiable photographs, testimonials, and personal stories should be used for promotion only with appropriate permission, including a parent or guardian's permission for minors where required. Participation and services do not depend on agreement to promotional photography or publication of a personal story. Permission for one use does not authorize unrelated uses by BTCDC or affiliates. You may withdraw permission for future uses, recognizing that previously distributed materials may not always be recoverable.
14. Faith, service, and confidentiality
Our Christian faith informs our values of dignity, justice, stewardship, and collaboration. Community programs are offered without regard to religious affiliation. Religious activities are voluntary and are not a condition of services. Information supplied for community development programs does not automatically become church membership information or authorize religious recruitment. Voluntarily requested spiritual care should be treated with appropriate sensitivity and applicable confidentiality practices.
15. Changes to this policy
BTCDC may update this Policy as its website, programs, tools, or information practices change. Revisions will be reflected in the Last Updated date. Additional notice or consent will be provided where required by applicable law.
